A Moonlit Walk on the Beach

How about a moonlit walk on the beach? Delightful!

This card was made for challenges MFTSC40 (sketch) & DTGD08Laurie (the moon is vellum)

There is LOTS of glitter pen on this card: The stars in the sky, around the moon (smeared with my finger), on the swirls of the moon, the waves crashing into the beach, and the waves under the moonlight.

-------
2/18/09 ETA:To answer a couple of questions I recently received about how I do my cards:

* I started out doing 5x7 cards cause I just couldn't fit everything on a smaller card. I now do all 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

* I either brayer or sponge my backgrounds. Just depends on how I feel (and if I've brought my brayer back downstairs after cleaning it)

* I use Stampin' Up Whisper White cardstock on my scenes now. The slick surface helps me move the ink around and blend easier.

* I cut first because that is where I am most likely to make a mistake. I'd hate to create the whole scene and botch it on the cut job.

* Most of the time, I color and cut out the main images in my scenes. I glue them on with Tombow Multi Purpose adhesive. I squirt a little onto the back of the image and spread it around with a q-tip (so I don't have any big glops that will squirt out the side).

----------

The trick to this type of card for me is to have all the parts of the sketch flat so I can brayer them. I did this by cutting my GP 110 Cardstock to 5" x 7". I put that in my Cricut and then cut out the circle. Next, I figure out what size rectangle I need for the lady and cut one of those out. I lay that rectangle on top of the 5 x 7 sheet with the circle and cut it out. This allows me to lay that rectangle into the whole I just created so all the elements are laying flat.

And for my next trick......I use my Cricut cutting mat to hold all the pieces together while I do my brayering. I use wax paper (we'll talk about my love of wax paper some other day!) around the card to keep ink off my cutting mat.

Ink: Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Not Quite Navy, Real Red
